This enamel wall hanging began on an etched piece of copper sheet. The etching was taken from my photos of the walls of Pompeii. Though having been covered by volcanic ash since 79 AD, the walls of homes are still brightly colored. I was struck by the cracks in the paint that covers the walls and that is the photo which acts as the beginning to this piece. Exploring layering, removal and addition in this enamel, you can see a variety of different techniques that keep the viewers interest and cause you to search around the piece. You never know what you’ll find next.
